Leon Edwards Has No Title Shot Except Belal Muhammad’s Rematch

Leon Edwards show support to Meghan

Leon Edwards does not want to fight again with Belal Muhammad. Moreover, he demands a title bout against any of the top fighters, which is impossible as no one is interested to fight Edwards.

Edwards’ long-awaited return after a 20-month layoff ended in a no-decision against Belal. An accidental eye poke on Belal stopped the bout in the second round. However, he would have won the bout if they could run the fight for a few more rounds. Rocky won the first round technically and referring to this he demands a win for him.

Now that he thinks he would have won the fight, he wants to appear in a title bout. “[I was] going into the fight with the mentality of I wanted to fight for the belt next. So now I’m like what’s next? What do I do now? Is it a rematch? Is it someone else? I feel I deserve a title shot,” Edward said in a post-bout interview.

While it was an unfortunate ending, Edwards doesn’t really show any interest in any rematch with Muhammad. However, he was laid off because no one wanted to fight him. Belal is the one who wanted to fight the 29-year-old.

It is poor sportsmanship from Edwards, as he denied to fight again. “I don’t feel I need to fight him again. I was winning the fight clearly. And I don’t feel I need to fight him again. I need to move forward,” Edwards said.

Belal shows interest to fight Leon Edwards again

Despite Edwards’ refusal to rematch, the 32-year-old still wants to run it back. Edwards has no alternatives fighting Belal and he wants to complete the unfinished business. “Typo I can’t see out of one eye just talked to my bro @AliAbdelaziz00 Leon’s not getting the next title shot so might as well fight the only guy willing to fight you we got unfinished business,” Muhammad wrote on Twitter.

UFC president Dana White is ready to arrange a rematch. He promised Edwards that, “if he won, he’d be next in line to face the winner of Kamaru Usman’s next fight, which could be Jorge Masvidal.”

Now it’s Edwards’ call and a rematch will open up doors for him.
