Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc is in charge of free practice of Russian GP. Leclerc beats Red Bull Max Verstappen by less than 0.1 seconds.
In a free practice session at the Sochi Autodrom on Friday (27/9/2019), Leclerc packed the best lap time with 1 minute 34,462 seconds gained from 20 rounds. Verstappen came in second with 0.082 seconds.
Ferrari asserted dominance after Sebastian Vettel took third place with 1 minute 35,005 seconds. Vettel is ahead of Mercedes duo Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton had trouble with braking at the beginning of the session, while Bottas had a back wing failure at the end of the session so he had to return to the pit with low speed.
Alexander Albon finished sixth in front of Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo. Ricciardo’s car crashed into the wall and damaged the rear wing. Sergio Perez and Romain Grosjean finished ninth overall.
