Karim Benzema flared the hopes of Real Madrid fans, after the Galacticos beat Getafe FC by a two-nil margin, as he says, “There is still a long way to go” when talking about the title race.
The current La Liga season has not been going so well for Real Madrid, but after their win over Getafe on February 10, 2021, the Los Blancos have closed the gap on their Madrid rivals, Atletico.
Previously, Real Madrid had been fighting hard to gain their favored spot on top of the Spanish league, but league leaders Atletico Madrid has been too strong this season that it does not seem likely they will let it slip up.
Real Madrid has lost four matches this season after playing twenty games in total. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid has played twenty games this season (two less than their Madrid rivals, who have played twenty-two games), lost once, and still have an incredible five-point advantage over the reigning champions.
Karim Benzema: Each game is a final; we have to try to win each one
Karim Benzema refuses to fall under the delusions that their victory over the Azulones suggests his team is back in the race for the La LIGA title. He knows Madrid is one of the world’s biggest clubs but realizes that the next games will not be an easy ride for them.
Furthermore, Karim Benzema says, “Each game for us is like a final, and we have to try and win each one. We are confident of that”.
The comments made by Benzema, though hurtful to the loyal Real Madrid fans, have showcased his proficiency to maintain his composure and think about the next task at hand.
Benzema and Madrid are set to face Valencia in the league next. He coincidentally has a tremendous individual record against them, having scored in all but one of his fixtures against them.
