“I’m Donald Trump’s Favourite Fighter” Colby Covington Continues Intense Approach to Get a Welterweight Fight Card from the UFC 261 Winner

Colby Covington taunts Robbie Lawler in their welterweight bout

On Saturday night, Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight title in a rematch with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261. UFC President Dana White confirmed that Colby Covington will be getting the next title shot if Usman retains his title. But “Chaos” isn’t sure his title fig will come against Usman.

However if Usman loses on Saturday, that could change the welterweight title dynamics dramatically. Though Dana White has proclaimed Covington next in line for a title shot. If Masvidal wins the title, a trilogy bout between the two seems like the logical next step. This of course would leave Covington out in the cold, but “Chaos” isn’t afraid of that happening.

In a recent interview with The Mac Life, Colby Covington aimed shots at Jorge. Covington said that Maritza Collado is still legally married to Jorge. Likewise, Maritza is the mother of Masvidal’s children, and his union with Iman Kawa is a mainstream lie.

He said, “I’m the people’s champion, I’m America’s champion, and I’m Donald Trump’s favorite fighter. I should be the one fighting next. It’s only a matter of time before I get locked in the Welterweight title fight. Doesn’t matter who it’s going to be.”

Whether his claims about Jorge Masvidal’s personal life are true is debatable at this point. But he has taken the rivalry to the next level. Either way, Covington won’t have to wait long to find out who he’ll fight. UFC 261 takes place tomorrow night at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL.
