Gennadiy Golovkin regained the IBF Middle-Class boxing belt after beating Sergiy Derevyanchenko. The question is, who will be the next GGG opponent? Is Saul Canelo Alvarez or other tough boxers.
Certainly very interesting to wait whether Golovkin will undergo a trilogy with Canelo. If it isn’t Canelo, here are a few options to attract opponents who deserve a duel with GGG.
Billy Joe Saunders
It seems that Billy Joe Saunders is being directed towards a unification clash with Callum Smith. But if the domestic mega duel with Smith doesn’t materialize, Saunders versus Golovkin will provide a lot of traction if England wants to return to have a 72.6kg Middle-Class champion.
Exclamation Demetrius Andrade who wants a fight with big-name boxers has not found an answer. However, by having a WBO championship belt, it is not impossible that Andrade dueled with Golovkin.
The 72.6kg Intermediate Kelar is highly dominated by Golovkin and Canelo in recent years. Andrade who came from Rhode Island was forced to be eliminated.
However, right now, Golovkin and Andrade are under the banner of Matchroom, owned by Eddie Hearn. That is, the battle of the Middle-Class unification between the two can be realized.
Looks like Daniel Jacobs in the future could be in the Super Middle Class after losing to Canelo and Golovkin in the Middle Class. Jacobs believes that he was just unlucky because he suffered losing to GGG.
Golovkin has not yet offered a battle contract to Callum Smith. However, Smith really hopes to duel with GGG which he believes can satisfy the desires of British boxing fans.
Golovkin was rumored to be moving to the 76.2kg Super Middle Class when Andre Ward became the ruler there. But did he finally dare to go up to class just to face Smith?
After it was decided to become Golovkin’s opponent on May 2018, Jamie Munguia canceled the ring. However, Mungia is not broke for achievement. He became the 69.9kg Super Welter Class world champion after an extraordinary victory over Sadam Ali and Liam Smith.
