Pau Gasol has seen his share of accolades in the league during his prime. However, due to numerous injuries, the 2-time NBA champion has been out of the league since the 2018-19 NBA season. He last played for the Milwaukee Bucks alongside Giannis.
But since then he has been recovering from a foot injury. While there had been many rumors about Gasol returning to the league, none of the deals ever came to fruition. Recently, another rumor caught air that the 40-year-old might return back to Spain and join Barcelona.
However, as expected they have been nothing but rumors and Gasol is still no close to playing for a team.

Following the rumors, Pau Gasol himself cleared the air around his future. He tweeted about this saying:
“After hearing the news out of Spain today, I wanted to share that I remain focused on my recovery and I am not ready to get back to competing just yet. As soon as I have something to announce, I will do so via my social media channels. Thank you very much for your support!”

As most suspected, Gasol is not returning back to playing basketball anytime soon. Moreover, age is not on his side and that doesn’t help his case. It might not be surprising to hear about his retirement before his return to playing basketball.
