Leonard Ellerbe Thinks Teofimo Lopez Still Young to “Understand The Business” of Boxing

Teofimo Lopez, who hasn’t fought since beating Vasyl Lomachenko in October 2020, plans to dominate the boxing scene for years to come. He believes with his attention to detail anything is possible.

Leonard Ellerbe from Mayweather promotions believes he’s just bluffing.

Leonard said, “Teofimo (Lopez), he’s a good young fighter but he thinks he’s bigger than what he actually is. He won a huge fight. Other than beating Lomachenko, what the [expletive] we talking about?”

“This guy’s never even headlined a show before but he’s saying he’s the A-side and all that dumb stupid talk. But that just goes to show you when you’re young you really don’t understand the business.”

“You just gotta ignore them. He’s a tremendous young fighter and he’s got a big future ahead of him. He can’t beat Tank.”

Lopez recognizes his unusual status as the first world champion to headline a Triller Fight Club event. His success, he claims, is not only down to his self-belief, but also his exceptionally high fight IQ.

He said, “What I’m trying to do is perfect my craft as much as possible. Where I look so invincible that come June 19, all of these 135-pound guys in my division are quiet. Right now my main focus is George Kambosos.”

“I’m the best in the world, man. I know within myself, where I’m at, the [Vasyl] Lomachenko fight elevated me. When you fight the best, when you beat the best, you learn something from the best.”

Kambosos is a solid fighter and a deserving mandatory, but if we’re being honest it’s difficult to imagine him posing much of a threat to dethrone Lopez.
