The Western Conference’s top two candidates beat Giannis Antetokounmpo. His team Milwaukee Bucks hosted the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers last month. However, they lost a tight 113-106 contest.
But in comparison to the Western Conferences, the reigning MVP was not chiefly impressed by the performance. Giannis Antetokounmpo has now faced off with the Utah Jazz twice and been throttled on both instances.
Moreover, the Jazz built 20-point leads in both games and left with double-digit wins in each. However, this brought Giannis Antetokounmpo to a simple conclusion that Jazz is the best team in the West. As per ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, Giannis called the Jazz “the best team in the West.”
Giannis Antetokounmpo conveyed, “It just looks fun. Like when I watch them play, it looks fun, it looks easy,” “It looks simple. For sure, they look like us last year, and man, when you’re at that point and you’re playing with that confidence, you’re hard to beat for sure.”
Why Giannis Antetokounmpo was correct?
He crowned Utah at an opportune time. At the earlier stage of 700 miles, the Lakers did not get to experience an easy night. The first quarter turned out to be ugly for the Lakers against the Memphis Grizzlies as the scores stood at a mark behind 22-2. On the other hand, the Jazz was running the Bucks outside of the Vivint Arena.
However, this was hardly a new phenomenon for the Lakers. It seemed like they were trying to test their limits again through forming deficits that were harder and bigger to overcome with every passing night.
The Lakers further went up to win back-to-back seven games. However, the Lakers were outscored by a total of 41 points with regards to the first five quarters in the past. Out of seven, five Lakers were not in the top eight of the respective conferences. Pistons and Thunder managed to take them to overtime with a merged record of 17-34 in three games.
The 2019-20 Lakers did that. The 2020-21 Jazz are doing it now. This does not conclude that Jazz has an upper hand over the Lakers. At least that is what the post-season history suggests. Consequently, Giannis Antetokounmpo played for both teams in the current scenario.
Where they will stand or whether not is skeptical, but looking at Lakers performance, one thing can be noted that what Giannis conveyed is right. As of now, the Jazz seemed to play Basketball well and possess the best way of playing the sport.
