Four counts of arm robbery charges dropped against former Giants CB DeAndre Baker

Former Giants CB DeAndre Baker

This morning, the Broward County State Attorney’s office announced that DeAndre Baker is now free from all the allegations, and charges have been dropped. So, Baker is not facing any criminal charges as the accusers have changed their statements, and their (accusers) attorney was arrested as he allegedly attempted to extort Baker.

What were DeAndre Baker’s charges?

In August 2020, Baker was charged with four counts of arm robbery, in which Seahawks safety Quinton Dunbar was involved too. They were accused of stealing $70,000 worth of Jewelry and cash from a house party in Miramar, Florida, in May. However, the charges against Quinton Dunbar have been dropped earlier due to the lack of evidence.

After the charges, Baker turned himself in and then released on bond in September, which made him dismissed from the Giants in the same month.

Baker’s case has been twisted as his accusers’ attorney William Dean was arrested as he has tried to extort Baker, who demanded $1.5 million to change the accusers’ statement. However, four of the three accusers recanted their statements last week, and they had conflicting statements. Besides, the fourth accuser was not present for the hearing in October.

Eventually, the accusers who claimed themselves as the victim has framed Baker and Dunbar. Baker’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, stated that the framing was a part of the extortion scheme in which the four accusers and their lawyer allegedly involved.

Baker’s attorney put a motion in the case, and news stories will develop after the next hearing.

If Baker were convicted, he could have faced ten years in prison.

Can DeAndre Baker return to the NFL?

Now that all the charges against Baker have been dropped and Bakers is no more accused of any criminal activity, he is free to join the NFL. However, he still might face discipline under the NFL’s policy, but if faced, he may get over it. Since Giants New York Giants released Baker after the robbery allegation, he does not have any team right now; he will have to find a team as he is currently considered as a free agent and can join any team of his choice sooner or later.

I am hoping to see him returning in the field this season; if not, then definitely in the next season.
