Charles Leclerc extended his contract with the Ferrari F1 team. He agreed to sign a new contract until the end of 2024.
After one F1 season with Sauber, Leclerc joined Ferrari in 2019. His career progressed quite rapidly with the Italian racing team.
“I am very happy to be able to survive with Scuderia Ferrari. Last season, driving for the most famous team in Formula 1 and this has been a dream for me,” Leclerc was quoted as saying by Autosport.
“I can’t wait to enjoy a deeper relationship with the team after what has been intense and interesting in 2019 and I want to see what will happen in the future and I can’t wait to leave again next season,” continued Leclerc.
Leclerc sealed Ferrari’s first win of the year at the Italian Grand Prix and finished fourth in the standings before four-time world teammate Sebastian Vettel. Leclerc also won seven poles, the most among the other drivers this season.
Meanwhile Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto said his team was very happy with the decision.
“Charles has been a part of our family since 2016 and we are very proud of the results we have achieved with our academy, it shows that Charles and Scuderia have a solid future together,” he added.
“Therefore we are very pleased to announce that he will be with us for the next five years and I am sure that together, we will write many new pages in the history of Ferrari.”
