Lewis Hamilton claimed to be at home at Mercedes. However, the British rider did not rule out the possibility to start considering his future.
Hamilton’s contract with Mercedes will expire at the end of the Formula 1 2020 season. Together with Mercedes, he was a huge success by winning world titles in the last three seasons.
Rumors that circulated later linked Hamilton with Ferrari. The news began widely after Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto mentioned the situation of Hamilton at Mercedes after the last series at the Abu Dhabi GP.
Speaking of speculation about his future, Hamilton confirmed that he was still happy at Mercedes. But the 34-year-old rider will need time to consider the next step in his career.
“Of course everything that happens behind the scenes is always closed with whoever you talk to,” Hamilton said as reported by Crash.
‘But I think over the years I have never sat down to discuss and consider other options because we went straight to the road we have been on and the journey we have traveled.’
‘To be honest, I still think we’re on that road and I think very few things will change it.’
‘But I don’t think there is any harm … I know Toto (Wolff) also sees options about his future and only he will know what is best for him and his family. So I am waiting for what he will do.’
‘I like where it is at the moment so this is definitely not a decision that can be taken quickly, but I think what I want is smart and wise, whether this is the last period or the last round of my career.’
‘Actually, I want to continue to win. I also want to continue to be able to compete with these people (Ferrari and Red Bull),’ he said.
