Cristiano Ronaldo managed to avenge his failure to win the Ballon d’Or from Lionel Messi. The Juventus star has just been named the best player in the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards.
At the awards night which was held at Madinat Jumeirah Resort, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Sunday morning, Ronaldo defeated three other candidates, Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool).
For the former Real Madrid player, the award received at the end of this year was the sixth out of nine awards held. And, already four times in a row Ronaldo won the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards.
According to the National, Ronaldo said he must thank his family, his girlfriend, and his son. They are waiting for him at the hotel who always supported him.
He also thanked the Arab community which always pleased him.
‘And finally to thank everyone who chose me. It is a great honor to be here and receive this extraordinary award. Thank you, everyone.
Ronaldo is not the only winner at the event. Another player who received the award was Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid as the brightest young player. The Miralem Pjanic was asked to receive the Player Career Award. Other awards were also given to Liverpool (best team), Lucy Bronze (best female player) to Juergen Klopp (best coach).
