Madrid, which is chasing three points at the Santiago Bernabeu, Saturday (12/07/2019), to coup Barcelona at the top of the standings while indeed playing aggressively. But it was not easy to dominate the match because Espanyol gave resistance. After a long period of pressure, Madrid finally won through goals scored by Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema.
In the match, Zidane made changes by bringing in several young players such as Vinicius Junior and midfielder Federico Valverde. That includes the action of Ferland Mendy who was hit by a red card.
“Today, we must be happy because we keep running well. Of course, we can do much better, but we play a very serious game, respecting opponents and that is the most important thing,” Zidane told Footballespana.
Zidane added that he was proud to coach Madrid on his second chance “I am fortunate to be here with them.”
“It is they who fight on the field and we have a very good army. There is still a lot of work and don’t forget where we come from,” added Zidane.
