It appears the rumours linking Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos with a departure from the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the campaign won’t be going down anytime soon.
Those talks have gathered even more momentum following the latest report that the club is open to the idea of letting the legendary centre-back call time on his stint with the Merengues.
As revealed by respected football journalist Josep Pedrerol on ‘El Chiringuito’, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez has told Ramos that he would understand if the iconic defender decides to part ways with the club amid whispers of a lucrative contract offer from Paris Saint Germain.
“If a good offer arrives (from elsewhere), I will understand you leaving.” Perez is said to have told the Spanish International, according to Pedrerol.

Recall that recent reports had initially indicated that the Ramos and Real Madrid are on the brink of separation ahead of the summer transfer window.
The defender’s current contract expires at the end of the campaign and talks have been going on between the two parties to sort his future.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the player’s representatives are locked in negotiations with the club and they are far apart in terms of reaching an agreement.
Ramos reportedly wants an extension deal that will keep him in the Spanish capital for two more years with significant wages but Los Blancos are bent on maintaining their policy of not offering more than 12-month contracts to players over the age of thirty.
Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, are said to have proposed a contract offer worth €18 million for the centre-back in order to tempt him to quit his association with the Galacticos and switch over to the Parc des Princes.
Still, Florentino Perez hasn’t given up on the hope of keeping Ramos with the club. He is reportedly considering breaking policy to offer the defender his desired two-year contract to keep him at the Bernabeu until the summer of 2023.
The president, however, doesn’t have any plans or intention to match the massive €18 million reported contract offered by PSG, which means that the saga could be far from over.
Nonetheless, Ramos remains the heartbeat of Los Blancos team. The defender continues with his stellar performances for the Galacticos this season.
So far during the term, he racked up three goals and one assist from 10 games across all competitions. Thanks to his amazing impact, Real Madrid currently occupy the fourth position on the Liga table, with 16 points from 8 games – which places them five points ahead of their arch-rivals Barcelona, who sit at the eighth position.
In the Champions League, they had a difficult start to life losing their opening fixture to Shakthar Donetsk and drawing their second game with Borussia Monchengladbach. They, however, returned to winning ways by defeating Inter Milan 3-2 the last time out.
Zinedine Zidane’s men rank third on the Group B table and they’ll need to work harder to secure a slot in the round of 16 phase of the European tournament.
Whether or not they’ll be able to count on Ramos for the season and beyond remains to be seen.
