“Without The Public We Are Nothing” Charles Leclerc Supports Sprint Race Idea For F1 Existence

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz managed to secure third fastest position during testing.

Charles Leclerc recently expressed his support for the much anticipated as well as controversial Formula One Sprint Race. Much of the Formula One world is divided into two parts, one in support of this Sprint Race and another opposing the idea.

Charles, however put his support in favour of the race. He stated that the Sprint Race will fetch fans support from all over the world and make Formula One way more popular than it is now.

During an interview, the Monegasque driver conveyed, “I think we need a compromise. Let’s take, for example, the idea of ​​the sprint race: I think it will find the consensus of a large part of the public following Formula 1, and as far as we drivers are concerned, I saw a majority position in favor of doing a test. Without the public we are nothing, so taking a step in the direction of the fans every now and then I don’t think it’s wrong ”.

Formula One Management issued a statement about introducing Sprint race, a 100km race which is around 20 laps. In the race, the drivers and constructors will have free choice of tires for themselves. Three points would be awarded to the winner, two to the second placed car and one to the third placed driver accordingly.

This Sprint race will take place in different continents and of course  different countries. This will in fact let more and more people get in touch with the sport and popularize it even more, feels the Ferrari prodigy.

Most of the Formula One drivers this season are good with Sprint Race testing. The drivers, in fact want to give the testing a go and try out different sectors of Formula One.
