After the failure of Sergio Perez at the 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, the Team Principal Christian Horner, still supports the driver and claims the Mexican can do better in the future.
The 31-year-old had a beautiful start to the Imola weekend, finishing third at the Q3. However, Perez couldn’t maintain the wonderful performance on the race day.
He made a couple of mistakes at the Autodrome Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit. The Red Bull driver spun after the first Safety Car regime. Further, rejoined the race while also overtaking his rivals for a P4 stand. This resulted in a 10-second penalty for the Mexican racer. Later on, he again spun at the Villeneuve chicane during Lap 38 resulting in his drop to P12.

Sergio Perez of Red Bull Racing spun and rejoins at P12 in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on April 18, 2021.
However, the Red Bull boss doesn’t blame the driver for the Imola failure. Horner ascertains it because of Perez’s freshness to the German machinery. Therefore, he will get will shine more with each passing race. The 47-year-old boss reported, “He had good pace in the race and there’s still a long, long way to go.”
What Sergio Perez will do in the upcoming races?
Currently, Perez ranks P8 on the 2021 Drivers Standing with ten points. Meanwhile, Checo’s teammate Max Verstappen ranks way ahead of him at P2 with 43 points behind Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.
Checo is already recognized as one of the best drivers in Formula One. The 31-year-old showcased his driving skills in Bahrain, where he finished at P5 after a troublesome start. He could have done better in Imola, but his little experience with the RB16B is his biggest hurdle. However, the Mexican will overcome the hurdle in the upcoming days.

Max Verstappen claims to make it harder for Mercedes with his teammate Sergio Perez in the upcoming races of the 2021 season.
Even Perez’s teammate Verstappen claims Checo will get more comfortable with the Milton-Keynes stable in the coming days. Thus, both the drivers together will give a much harder time to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes on the circuit.
Sergio Perez will go behind the wheels of Red Bull RB16B again, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on Sunday, May 02. We might witness the first podium of 2021 for the Mexican. Further, he might also claim his second race-win at Portugal.
