Red Bull at “Slight Advantage” for Spanish GP, Claims Former F1 Driver Ralf Schumacher

Max Verstappen took the lead from Lewis Hamilton at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 28, 2021.

Ralf Schumacher, the former Toyota Formula One driver is of the opinion that Red Bull has an upper hand over Mercedes in the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. The Milton Keynes based team was the second best in the recently concluded Portuguese Grand Prix and the German thinks it’s time for them to make amends.

Two of the Mercedes drivers made it to the podium back in Portimao while for Red Bull it was just Max Verstappen. This as a result left Red Bull much behind in the Constructor’s Championship race after three races. Schumacher believe the Bulls can turn the tide on their side in Barcelona.

In an interview with Sky Deutschland, the 45-year-old driver conveyed, “I see Red Bull at a slight advantage for Spain. The track characteristics will suit them with the slow and medium-speed corners.”

Red Bull’s RB16B is considered to be the fastest car on the track. However, failing to qualify on pole for two straight races is a cause of concern for the team.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner stated on this, “We are slowly getting a picture of the strengths and weaknesses of the cars. The conditions in Portugal were very abnormal so if we have a standard race in Barcelona we should know even more.”

The Milton Keynes based team are at P2 with 83 points, trails the Silver Arrows by 18 points who are at 101 points now. It’ll be interesting to see if the Bulls can work on the fact Ralf Schumacher talked about in the upcoming Circuit De Barcelona.
