Nikita Mazepin is set to make his Formula One debut in the 2021 season with the Hass F1 Team. The young driver placed fifth on the driver standing in the 2020 Formula Two.
The Russian prodigy gathered 11 penalty points in his last season and was a single point away from receiving a race ban. His record of penalties is now clear because of graduating to Formula One. However, he needs to be careful about not repeating the mistake in F1.
Nikita Mazepin is working on his driving style for Formula 1
The 22-year-old is working with his new team to develop a new driving style as he cannot continue with his aggressive style. But he is confident about his team and believes penalty points won’t trouble him in the championship. Mazepin said, “It’s not something that I fear because I’m confident that’s not going to happen.”
The young racer’s philosophy is to be willing to make use of the opportunities and sometimes cross the line while making his moves to advance. Hence, he mentioned going through the guidelines to improve his style.

Nikita Mazepin ranked fifth on the driver standing of the 2020 Formula Two.
“I take a lot of time to go through the regulations, study them and understand them, understand where that fine line,” said the Russian. “Like one of the great racing drivers said, if you don’t go for a gap that exists, you’re no longer a racing driver, and I think this is applicable to every driver in F1.
“To get there you do need to be willing to take every opportunity because if you will not be doing it, somebody else will. You obviously sometimes overstep that line.”
The 22-year-old driver is glad to work with the American team and he is only focusing on the upcoming season and also mentioned not worrying about the development changes in 2022, leave those issues to the team.
Mazepin and his fellow F2 driver Mick Schumacher joined Hass on a multi-year contract and will take the new VF-21 for a drive during the pre-season testing, before the first race of the season at the Bahrain circuit on Sunday, 28 March 2021.
