Mick Schumacher hasn’t tasted the desired success yet in his debut year at F1. While finishing 16th in Bahrain, the German driver only improved by one spot during the Imola GP. Yet, when it comes to comparing his performance with teammate Nikita Mazepin, Uncle Ralf got all the good words for his nephew.
Things are moving forward for Mick,” said Ralf. “Sure, he misjudged when warming up the tyres, turned into the wall and demolished his nose in the process – that was embarrassing for him. But such an action is part of the game and won’t happen to him again.
“The bottom line is that he had his team-mate safely under control. He was clearly faster than Mazepin – in qualifying and in the race. He is doing very well in his first year of training,” Ralf further added.
Mick Schumacher didn’t have a good weekend around Imola. He accidentally spun the VF-21 into the wall behind the Safety Car that further left him with a broken front wing.
Even as he resumed, the closed pit lane forced a delay to the required repair job within the car. As a result, he could only finish up at the 15th spot at the end.
The season so far has gone too hard on Nikita as well. He has witnessed major setbacks in almost all of his qualifying sessions and main events. Such has been the impact that random F1 fans have trolled him for his habitual(yet unintended) ‘spinning’ act.
Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin stepped into the F1 on the back of some notable success in the F2 championship. Hence, Team Haas fans can certainly expect both of them to bring on some key improvements in the upcoming races.
