Paddy Lowe, the former Executive Director of Mercedes talked about Lewis Hamilton and his early days in F1. Further, Lowe opened up about how talented Lewis was right from the beginning.
The seven-time world champion debuted back in 2007 with McLaren and there was no looking back ever since. The Briton made into nine podiums in his first season. Following that, he was runner up to Kimi Raikkonen in the Driver’s Championship in 2007. Not only this but also he was the first-ever “black” driver in Formula One’s history who has racked up four wins in his debut season and collected 109 points, all as a rookie in the inaugural season.

Talking about Hamilton, Lowe conveyed in F1’s Beyond The Grid podcast, “Well firstly he arrived in terrific shape, he hit the ground running with nine podiums in his first nine races. I don’t believe we will ever see that again for a rookie. He was already at a very uniquely high level from the day he arrived in Formula 1. He has improved massively in all that time. I would say in the consistent delivery. There’s nothing left on the table any day.”
NINETY TWO WINS 🤯 Today is beyond my wildest dreams. I couldn’t be here today without my team, continuously innovating and pushing the barrier in this game. I’m so grateful to have you guys by my side through this journey… pic.twitter.com/uNNFY6eLED

Lewis Hamilton is supremely talented, thinks Lowe
The former Williams boss further asserted on the reigning champion, “Lewis is supremely talented and one of the features of people that are supremely talented is that they generally know they are and that does sometimes leave scope for relaxation at certain points when they think ‘I am the best, I am good enough, I will make it work, I will carry it through’.”
Fast forward from 2007, the 36-year-old star driver now has 7 world championship titles tucked under his belt. Having already broken Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 wins last year, the Englishman is on the hunt to surpass the German on title count this year.

Hamilton currently leads the Championship leaderboard of 2021 with 44 points. Subsequently, with just one point ahead of Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing. Lewis, the former McLaren driver managed to ace the season opener at Bahrain Grand Prix and finished at P2 at the recently concluded Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. It’ll be interesting to see if the Briton manages to hold his lead and eventually manages to claim his eighth Championship title at the end of this season.
