Lewis Hamilton Plans to “Avoid Contact” With Max Verstappen on Monaco Track

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes AMG F1 needs to push his limits further to maintain the lead ahead of Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing in the 2021 Formula One.

Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes AMG speedster opened up about the upcoming race at Monaco Grand Prix. The seven times world champion also talked about his rivalry with Max Verstappen and expressed that he wants to avoid contact with him.

Lewis, who criticized the Monte Carlo circuit because of the same rule over and over again. The track is difficult to overtake and one can hit the barrier at any time, resulting in the loss of entire race.

Hamilton, in an interview, conveyed in this regard, “Max gives me the impression that he wants to prove something in a duel. I see it more like a marathon than a sprint. That’s why I will continue to avoid any contact on the track.”

However, Max declined any sort of challenges or dual straightaway and asserted, “I have nothing to prove. As for avoiding contact, I think it goes both ways. We race hard but we have avoided contact on both sides, so hopefully we can keep on doing that.”

The Hamilton-Verstappen rivalry is nothing new to the fans and given if they end up crashing against each other, this will give an impetus to the team that are at P3 currently. McLaren CEO Zak Brown thinks the collision between the heavyweights is “just a matter of time”

Given, Mercedes and Red Bull crashed against each other, there will be none happier than the team based on Woking. Adding on, the chance of a clash can’t be ruled out as the track is narrow as compared to the wide and notoriously fast cars. One slight mistake and the car is going to get wrecked in just a split second.
