Lewis Hamilton Knows how to Play With ‘One-on-One Rival’, Claims Vitantonio Liuzzi

Lewis Hamilton is relaxing with his beloved dog Roscoe ahead of the race in Imola on April 18.

Vitantonio Liuzzi, the former Italian Formula One star has opened up about Lewis Hamilton’s capabilities to play “One-on-One”. The former Force India driver stated that the reigning champion holds an edge over Max Verstappen in the title race.

Hamilton currently leads the Championship with 69 points over Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who’s at P2 with 61 points after three races.

Talking on this regard, the 39-year-old conveyed in an interview, “Hamilton knows very well that Verstappen is his title rival, not Bottas. That’s why he is not so worried about the Finn’s pace over one lap. Lewis knows that he has to compete one-on-one with Verstappen and so he plays that strategically”

Carlos Sainz, the young Ferrari driver expressed his thoughts on Hamilton’s recent Portimao win.

Sainz who finished at P11 in Portugal asserted “The truth is that I was surprised how easily Hamilton passed Verstappen and Bottas in Portugal. To overtake like that means you are either much faster or you’re doing something special, so I think he is at a very, very high level”

The Spaniard further focused on how the Mercedes man coped up with the much faster Red Bull car. He continued, “The Mercedes is not faster than the Red Bull now, so the ability to go as fast in the races has been surprising. I have not thought about it or analysed it much, but if I have to say someone who is doing particularly well now, it is Hamilton”

The fourth race of the season is in few weeks away set to take place in Spain. It’ll be interesting to see if Hamilton gets it better in One-on-One situation.
