Charles Leclerc, the young Ferrari driver has opened up about his team’s dismantled overall performance last year. Everyone from fans to experts were taken aback with the most famous Formula One team’s such performances.
Ferrari was at P6 in the Constructor’s Championship at the end of last season. The Maranello based team was behind to the teams like Racing Point and Renault which was quite shocking.

Leclerc in an interview on this context, conveyed, “Last year was definitely a difficult season to accept where we were but I think the team has done a great job by accepting pretty quickly that we took a step back and have been working in the best way possible since that moment.”
Ferrari now seemed to be in a better position than they were last year. With four races already done, they’re in P4 with 60 points and trailing P3 McLaren by just 5 points. Last year they managed to amass just 131 points throughout the entire season.

Charles, talking about this further asserted, “This year you can see that. The team has made a step in the right direction and it shows that all the work that people have done back in Maranello and at the track is paying off. We can see it on the track. The road is still long and we want to be fighting for the first positions soon. The way we work is the right way and we just need to keep working as a team”
Last year, as everyone pointed out, Ferrari’s SF20 was lot slower than it’s predecessors and this was one of the reason why Ferrari couldn’t perform despite having Sebastian Vettel in their team. This year the 23-year-old Monegasque driver it’s different.

“I don’t think there’s a big weakness like there was maybe a bit more last year on the race pace. I feel like this year it’s a lot more balanced and we are actually stronger in qualifying and in the race”, concluded Charles, the Ferrari star.
