Daniel Ricciardo is still struggling to adjust with his new team- McLaren, meanwhile, his teammate Lando Norris is shining in the 2021 season.
In Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Ricciardo began the race ahead of Norris, but couldn’t keep the pace throughout the race. Further, the Australian also had to let his teammate go ahead on team orders.
Ricciardo joined McLaren in 2021 after his two-year stint at Renault. But the Honey Badger still isn’t comfortable in his new Woking stable. However, he claims to have similar issues when he joined Renault, after quitting Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo is driving for McLaren F1 in the 2021 season of Formula One.
In an interview, the 31-year-old reported, “You know, I was well aware of this when I transitioned from Red Bull to Renault.”
“It’s, I guess, unfortunately, just going to take a bit of time. But you know, the season’s long. I think it’s only race two.” He added.
Ricciardo further stated, “Of course, I want to be quicker already but if I look back maybe on race seven and I look back at race two, I’m probably just giggling. Panic not, I’ll just work at it.”
Daniel Ricciardo and his future with McLaren
The Australian currently stands P7 with 14 points on the 2021 Driver Standings, whereas his English teammate Lando Norris is at P3 with 27 points. Ricciardo couldn’t set a higher standard in Renault, thus he joined McLaren, who is more promising than the French constructor.
There are rumors suggesting this might be the last big move for the Aussie, as he is already in his 30s and his fate is depending on his time with McLaren. Therefore, Ricciardo needs to pull up his socks to prove his worth as a driver.

However, it is still early to predict anything for the Honey Badger. In the past, he couldn’t win a single podium in his first year at Renault, whereas his second season was impressive with the French. Ricciardo signed a three-year contract with McLaren and he only drove in two races, he still has enough time to win podiums in his new outfit.
Daniel Ricciardo will again go behind the wheels of MCL35M at the Heineken Grande Prémio De Portugal 2021 on Sunday, May 02. We might be able to see Ricciardo’s infamous ‘shoey’ ritual at the Portuguese podium.
