“I learned a Lot about Max Verstappen”: Admits Lewis Hamilton Post Barcelona Race Victory

The neck-to-neck fight between Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes will get more competitive.

Lewis Hamilton, the current leader of this year’s Formula One driver’s Championship has opened up about his closest rival of this season Max Verstappen. The Briton talked about the Red Bull’s Dutchman post Spanish Grand Prix victory.

It was Mercedes’ sheer strategical move that brought the victory to Hamilton over Verstappen in a sharp battle between the duo. It looked right from the start that Verstappen is about to win the race as he passed Lewis on turn 1 and took the lead. However, Red Bull’s strategy of putting one pit stop backfired and Hamilton won over Max.

This isn’t the first time Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton has been sharing the podium together. This has been the case for all four races this year and most of the races in last season. Both Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton knows each other in and out and respects one another on and off the track.

However, as the race concluded, the Briton conveyed that he has known the young Red Bull driver more after the race at Barcelona. In an interview the 36-year-old driver stated, “I learned a lot about Max today, perhaps more than all the other races put together. This has been a good one in that sense.”

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes AMG F1 needs to push his limits further to maintain the lead ahead of Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing in the 2021 Formula One.

Hamilton currently leads the Driver’s Championship race with 94 points after four races. The Briton managed to pick up three victories out of four and that led Max Verstappen settle at P2 with just one victory and 79 points.

Both Lewis and Max are title contenders this season. Mercedes with their dominating behaviour and Red Bull with their faster car has helped both these drivers an ideal place to fight it out for the Championship.

It’ll be interesting to see who has the last laugh. Will it be Hamilton picking up his eighth Championship or will Max be able to pick up his maiden title. Whatever the case is, this season will be treat to watch for all the Formula One fans altogether.
