Helmut Marko: Imola Circuit Can Be Repeat of Bahrain GP With Max Verstappen on Top Podium

Max Verstappen isn't happy about his performance at the Q3 of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The season opener at the Bahrain circuit concluded with Max Verstappen finishing second to Lewis Hamilton, but the Dutchman gave a tough fight to the Briton throughout the race.

The RB16B was superior to the German machinery, which firmly gave a tough time to the Mercedes. Nevertheless, Toto Wolff’s team had strategies to ace the season opener.

The Austrian constructor is the current season favorite of every F1 fan. Thus, team advisor, Helmut Marko claims to take the P1 in the upcoming race in Imola with the Mad Max behind their wheels.

Marko claimed, “The same situation we saw in Bahrain will probably repeat itself, but I hope that Max can be on the top step of the podium.”

Max Verstappen can win Imola

The 23-year-old has shown some of his best driving skills in 2021, being at the top in most of his appearances. The Dutch-prodigy was leading in the first race, but soon Hamilton took the lead from him.

However, the young driver didn’t lose hope and steered a neck-to-neck fight with the Briton, to keep the lead. During the 54th lap, Max went ahead of Hamilton but had to return the position because of going out of the track to get the lead.

Recently, Helmut Marko said that Verstappen had some issues with the Austrian machinery like having less grip and overheating of tires. Even the Mexican Red Bull racer, Sergio Perez ran into a problem during the formation lap and had to start from the pit lane.

Helmut Marko claims to have a complete package this season and Max Verstappen will win the upcoming race in Imola on April 18.

However, the team has a wonderful ride for the  2021 season, which can perform excellently in every track with a few minor upgrades. Even the Mercedes trackside engineer Andrew Shovlin acknowledged the superiority of Red Bull’s machinery over them in the current season.

“We don’t really have any strengths relative to them, is what I would say,” Shovlin reported after the race settled on Sunday.

Red Bull is working on the RB16B for the upcoming race at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari on April 18.

We can expect Max Verstappen to give a sturdy competition to other drivers in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and even get the P1. Moreover, there is a possibility for him to claim his first world championship in 2021.
