During Lap 33, George Russell tried to overtake the Finnish from the outside of the track. However, William’s driver lost control of FW43B and slammed into Bottas’ W12. The crash between both the drivers resulted in massive damage to both their cars, although the racers were safe.

Soon after the crash, the red flag was raised, and the race got discontinued to clear the track of the metal scrap left behind because of the accident.
