Introducing the budget cap in Formula One since the 2021 season has been a curse for top-tier teams. However, the same rule is a boon for teams like Alpine F1 and Williams.
Elite teams like Mercedes, Red Bull, and Ferrari are known for investing huge capital into their projects each season. Therefore, it is hard for other teams to match their level because of the high expenses. As a result, they soar ahead on the table in an unequal championship race.

Renault CEO Luca de Meo claims the budget cap will help Alpine to get better in Formula One.
Thus, a limited budget will provide an equal opportunity to every F1 team and will also make the sport healthier and competitive. The Renault CEO Luca de Meo spoke about the advantages of the budget cap for Alpine, “The budget cap helped.”
“The top teams were spending two or three times what we were able to. It will help competition be stronger and that’s good for the show,” concluded De Meo.
Alpine F1 and expectations in 2021
The French constructors underwent some major changes for the ongoing season, the rebranding to Alpine from Renault and the return of their most successful driver. De Meo recently reported having plans for a long stay for Alpine in Formula One.

Fernando Alonso stays crucial for Alpine F1 Team chances in 2021.
The joining of the Spanish veteran Fernando Alonso to the team is one of the key steps for a successful future. The Renault boss claimed Alonso as the Godfather who will be a crucial person for the French constructor.
The Alpine racer Esteban Ocon’s performance in the season-opener was satisfactory, finishing three places higher from his grid position. Meanwhile, his teammate Alonso had a beautiful start but was forced to retire from the Bahrain race because of a malfunction in brake ducts. Therefore, the Enstone-based team promised to provide their full support to the drivers for the upcoming races.

We will again witness the Alpine drivers behind the A521 at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on April 18. We can hope to witness the Spaniard win again in Imola, as he did against legendary Michael Schumacher in 2005.
