Fernando Alonso, the Alpine Driver No. 14’s performance in the recently concluded pre-season testing was quite wonderful and surprising for his team. The Spaniard made a comeback to the sport for the 2021 season after a two-year gap at age 39.

With the appointment of the new Renault CEO Luca de Meo, there are hopes for the French team to stay on the grid longer and become a powerful team. The new chief mentioned that the Spaniard driver won’t accept the team lacking in any aspects.

Alonso won the World Championship twice in 2005 and 2006 and also led the Enstone-based team to greatness during his time in the club. The new CEO acknowledges the Spaniard as a “godfather” for the F1 Team. Therefore, the Spanish veteran is shouldering too many responsibilities on him and wants the complete support from Alpine.

What Fernando Alonso wants from his new team Alpine?

The 39-year-old Spaniard suffered from a fractured jaw injury in the past month because of a cycling accident, but the injury didn’t hold back Alonso. The two-time World Champion was the fifth-best in the 2021 Bahrain pre-season testing with a total of 206 laps, which was the double of his old rival Sebastian Vettel.

The CEO De Meo reported Alonso squeezed out the entire potential of the new A521 in just ten laps and the driver asked them the car needs more improvement to win any game. The Renault chief said the Frech team felt like Alonso was always with them since he joined in 2002.

“It took Fernando ten laps to get to the limit. Then he got out of the car and told us: It doesn’t work, it has to get better,” mentioned Luca de Meo. “He came back as if he were never been away. You can’t rest for a second on the team with him. Enough isn’t enough for him.”

Fernando Alonso will again be seen behind the wheel of Alpine A521 in the first race of the upcoming season on Sunday, March 28, at the Bahrain circuit. We can expect the Spanish to win the first race and also get his third title in the 2021 season.
