Ranking the Top 10 F1 Drivers To Never Win A Race

Since the start of the F1 world championship, many drivers have had the privilege of winning at least one race. However, many drivers came so close to winning the race but unfortunately they had to settle for runner’s up positions.

Coming so close to win the race and ending up not being the winner doesn’t make them any bad of a racer. Today we’ll look at some of the top drivers who worked so hard still didn’t quite manage to win any race.

10. Nico Hulkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg

At number 10 we have Nico Hulkenberg.

Nico Hulkenberg is a German former Formula 1 driver with a pretty decent record of race starts under his name. Nico has debuted in 2010 and then raced from 2012 till 2020.

The German is well known for his stints with teams like Williams, Force India, Sauber, Renault and Racing Point. Hulkenberg has 179 race starts under his belt but unfortunately no podiums or even wins.

9. Kevin Magnussen

Kevin Magnussen

Up next at number 9 we have Kevin Magnussen.

Kevin Magnussen is a Danish former Formula 1 driver who was active from 2014 and raced till 2020. Magnussen has raced for the Constructors like McLaren, Renault and Haas in his career.

Kevin has 119 race starts under his name and from there he was able to pick up just a podium but as usual no wins.

8. Jean Pierre Jarier

At number 8 we have Jean Pierre Jarier.

Pierre Jarier is a French former Formula 1 driver who debuted in 1971 and continued racing from 1973 till the end of 1983. The Frenchman has raced for the teams like March, Shadow , Ligier, ATS, Lotus, Tyrrell and Osella.

Jarier has 135 race starts under his belt and he managed to pick up 3 Podiums from them, however no race wins.

7. Daniil Kvyat

Daniil Kvyat

Up at 7th place we have Daniil Kvyat.

Daniil Kvyat is a Russian former Formula 1 driver who debuted in 2014. Kvyat has raced for Toro Rosso, Red Bull and Alpha Tauri from 2017 and 2019 to 2020

The Russian international has managed to pick up 3 podiums from the 110 race starts he started but unfortunately no wins.

6. Eddie Cheever

Eddie Cheever

Next at number 6 we have Eddie Cheever.

Edward McKay “Eddie” Cheever Jr. or Eddie Cheever is an American former Formula 1 driver who was active from 1978 to 1980 and raced till 1989. He raced for the teams like Theodore, Hesketh, Osella, Tyrrell, Ligier, Renault, Alfa Romeo, Haas Lola and Arrows.

Cheever has 132 race starts on his name and 9 podiums finishes but no wins unfortunately.

5. Martin Brundle

Martin Brundle

At nunber 5 we have Martin Brundle.

Martin Brundle is a British former Formula 1 driver who had stints with teams like Tyrrell, Zakspeed, Williams, Brabham, Benetton, Ligier, McLaren and Jordan. Having debuted in 1984, the Briton has raced till 1996.

Brundle has 158 race starts to his name in all his career and 9 podiums and as usual no wins.

4. Romain Grosjean

Next at number 4 we have Romain Grosjean.

Romain Grosjean is a French former Formula 1 driver known for his breathtaking escape from fireballs in Bahrain Grand Prix in 2020. The Frenchman has debuted in the sport in 2009 and raced till 2020.

Grosjean raced for the teams like Renault, Lotus and Haas and has 179 race starts under his belt. Romain has managed to pick up 10 podiums from there but no wins.

3. Chris Amon

Chris Amon

At second runner’s up position we have Chris Amon.

Chris Amon is a New Zealander former Formula 1 driver who was active from 1963 till 1976. The Kiwi driver is famous for the number of teams he raced for. They were Cooper, Amon, Ferrari, March, Matra, vTecno, Tyrrell, BRM, Ensign Wolf–Williams, Non-works Lola, Lotus and Brabham.

Amon has 96 race starts to his name and astonishing 12 podiums but unfortunately no wins as usual.

2. Nick Heidfield

Nick Heidfield

Now, at the first runners up position we have Nick Heidfield.

Nick Heidfield is a German former Formula 1 driver. His active years were from 2000 to 2011. Nick has raced for the legendary teams such as Prost, Sauber, Jordan, Williams, BMW Sauber and Renault.

Heidfield has made 183 race starts in his scintillating career and clocked up 13 Podiums from them but no wins.

1. Andrea De Cesaris

And finally in our number 1 place we have none other than Andrea De Cesaris.

Andrea De Cesaris is an Italian former Formula 1 driver who raced between the years 1980 to 1994. Much known for the variety of teams he has droven for that include Alfa Romeo, McLaren, Ligier, Minardi, Brabham, Rial, Dallara, Jordan, Tyrrell and Sauber.

The number of races he took part is staggering, yet failed to clinch a single win. This is the reason why he’s at number 1 spot in our list. Out of all these 208 races he started, De Cesaris only managed to score 5 podiums and as we’d all expect no wins.
