Saints quarterback Drew Brees was not able to play on the second half in yesterday’s game against 49ers due to “rib contusion” injury. This may cause him to miss some upcoming matches.
While Brees was out of the game, Jameis Winston opens the second half and played full time, which was his first appearance in the NFL for New Orleans Saints.
After the injury in the first half Brees was in the questionable list, unfortunately, he never joins the game again. Although, it is not a significant injury and he is scheduled for an MRI, and most probably he will be missing the next match against Falcons.
Sean Payton said Drew Brees will get an MRI on his ribs. His status for next week’s game vs. the Falcons is in question.

So, Saints are getting prepared to play the next game without Drew Brees, moreover few more matches too as he might take some time to heal fully.
Brees was sacked by Kentavius Street in the second quarter, who then sustained and remained the game. However, he was uncomfortable during the half time and informed the coaches about that; as a result, Winston started the second half.
Bress also had some issues last year and missed some games. And, this the second straight year for Brees missing one or few matches because of injury.
He was having a great time before leaving the game as he was 8-for-13 for 76 yards with a touchdown.
Who is a possible alternative of Drew Brees?
So far, I don’t see any other alternative than Jameis Winston as he already started in the last game. He might be the permanent started until Brees return.
For the past few weeks, New Orleans Saints are going through some rough time. Last week they violated NFL’s COVID-19 policy over a Twitter video, where some player did not wear masks while celebrating the victory against Tampa.
