Dovizioso Supports Jorge Lorenzo's Retirement Plan

Jorge Lorenzo’s decision to retire this season has drawn mixed reactions from other drivers. One of them is Andrea Dovizioso who was with him on the Ducati racing team. Lorenzo announced his retirement at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Cheste, Spain, on Thursday (11/14/2019).

At that time many racers were surprised to hear it, even Marc Marquez who incidentally Lorenzo’s teammate. Dovizioso is one of Lorenzo’s fellow racers, claiming he was hit with the driver’s retirement decision. The reason is, Lorenzo is a colleague of Dovi in various Grand Prix classes.

“We started competing in 2001. Every year we change classes at the same time, so we always become big rivals,” Dovizioso said.

“This sport is difficult to maintain at a high level and continues. Now Lorenzo is happy with his decision, I think what he is doing in this championship is something big,” continued Dovi.

Lorenzo himself said that the two dive accidents in the last two years made him think of retiring early. Though his contract with Honda still had one more year left.
