Despite a fracture, Stephen Thompson will not require an operation on his hands

Stephen Thompson returned to the path of triumph at UFC 244, but he has paid a heavy price for it.

The two-time challenger to the 170-pound belt showed that he remains part of the division’s elite by overcoming with great authority a fighter who is in full rise as Vicente Luque.

‘Wonderboy’ was a creditor of the unanimous decision, but during the fight, he suffered the fractures of his two hands.

In a text message addressed to MMA Fighting, the 36-year-old fighter clarified that he will not have to go through the operating room as originally planned.

“My hands are fine. It still hurts, but they will be fine.”

By winning over Luque, Thompson achieved his first victory in almost two years.
