Deontay Wilder eliminated Luis Ortiz in round 7 with a terrible right hand to defend the WBC Heavyweight boxing belt on Sunday (11/24).
KO victory over King Kong for the second time is a scary message for other Heavyweight boxers who are trying to seize his championship belt.
Dueling at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, United States, is similar to the first fight on March 3, 2018. At that time King Kong frustrated Wilder before winning a knockout in round 10.
In the second duel, Wilder again had difficulty defeating King Kong quickly. He lost a lot in each round. Out of nowhere in the seventh round, a deadly Wilder’s right-hand blows into a sledgehammer that knocks down Ortiz to defend his WBC belt.
KO victory over King Kong for the second time is a scary message for other Heavyweight boxers who are trying to seize his championship belt.
Wilder, 34, who is now unbeaten in 43 dueling 42 KOs and 1 draw in ten defending titles, plans to fight Tyson Fury in February 2020. For Ortiz, the defeat was the second of 33 in the ring (26 knockouts).
Ortiz, who is already in his 40s, shows his true identity as the most feared boxer in the Heavyweight. He threatened by slowly collecting a lot of numbers in each round.
Wilder could not find his rhythm in the first few rounds. He was too focused on Ortiz’s left hand which was the secret weapon of his strength.
Even in the first round, Ortiz hits Wilder’s face with his left hand. Blood poured from Ortiz’s right forehead due to collision with Wilder.
Until the fourth round, Wilder seemed to lose his fangs. Wilder was pushed into the fourth round when Ortiz’s left and right combination struck his body.
Wilder finally found the moment to overthrow Ortiz on the canvas. King Kong could not continue the fight until referee Kenny Bayless ended the count of 10.
