Gennadiy Golovkin is forecast to defeat Sergiy Derevyanchenko in the race for the vacant IBF Middle-Class championship belt on Saturday (5/10) tomorrow. The prediction was revealed by the WBO Super Middle-Class world champion, Billy Joe Saunders.
Saunders believes Golovkin, 37, can regain the IBF middle-class title that was vacant in the fight at Madison Square Garden, New York, United States. The title was vacant after the IBF revoked Saul Canelo Alvarez’s championship belt for refusing to compete with Derevyanchenko.
“This is a fight which, one might say, will not belong. It will be exciting,” Saunders told Sky Sports. “The fight will technically not keep each other apart. This will be a hard duel, bang, hit each other,” he said.
There are reasons why Saunders really wants Golovkin to win the battle with Derevyanchenko. If Golovkin wins, he wants to fight for unification. Understandably, Saunders has long harbored a desire to fight with Golovkin.
“I will fight Golovkin with whatever weight he wants. I can show people how easily I can defeat him. I can do a better job than Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez,” he said.
Besides Golovkin, Saunders also wants to fight with Canelo. However, Canelo is scheduled to duel with WBO Lightweight World Champion Sergey Kovalev on November 2. “I would love to destroy Cinco de Mayo for Mexican fans,” Saunders said.
