DC presents his views on the fight between Sterling and Sandhagen

Daniel Cormier has detailed the heated exchange he had with Jake Paul from UFC 261. During the most recent edition of DC & Helwani, Daniel Cormier said that initially, Paul started making faces at the former while he was on commentary duty at UFC 261. Cormier said he does not want to fight Paul but will do so in an MMA bout, not boxing.

Cormier said, “My name will not be used as a springboard. I love my legacy and I will protect my legacy. And if protecting my legacy means I gotta slap this kid upside his head, that’s what I’ll do.”

Daniel Cormier shared an incident of when he was back in college and a basketball player was messing with him. This would go onto show what Paul would be up against inside the cage.

He narrated, “I was in college and I was in the student union. One guy kept messing with me they were talking about boxing. They were like Daniel you can’t box you got Charles Barkley’s arms. I drove home thinking the whole time. Wow, I can’t believe I let that happen, I turn around, drive back, see the guy by the student union.

I said, hey I got Charles Barkley’s arms, I can’t box, I can’t fight and he’s like laughing. He thinks it’s a game, he’s a basketball player from Detroit. I go hey let me see your basketball, he gives it to me I said you said I can’t fight, he’s like yeah. So I take the basketball and I smash him in the face as hard as I could.”
