The former UFC champion, Cain Velasquez retired from the MMA, at 37, and took many by surprise. Despite having debuted in wrestling, few imagined that their days in MMA came to an end.
The news made Daniel Cormier, his teammate, sad, who spoke in an interview with MMA Fighting.
“It’s a sad day when Cain Velasquez retires. But I know he is doing something he loves. I remember when I saw WWE with him and you can see him do something he really loves. I don’t know how it all happened so fast, except when he met his wife, ” said DC.

Cain announced his retirement from MMA last Friday. The former champion requested that his name be removed from the USADA list, confirming that he had no plans to return to the MMA, at least for now, since to compete, he will have to go through six months of exams by the regulatory entity to be able to return.
The friendship of Velasquez and DC is so great that when Cain was in the full weights, Daniel chose to make a career in the semi-complete, with the intention of not facing his teammate. When Cain retired from the sport, after several injuries, which prevented him from returning quickly, Cormier rose in the category and was crowned champion of the division where his friend was the champion.
Daniel was also crowned champion and said that if Cain wanted the belt, he would retire so as not to face him or stop him in his dream of recovering the belt.
Currently, Cormier is preparing to try to recover his belt in front of Stipe Miocic. That he lost it in the rematch in UFC 241. That will be his last fight in the MMA, according to the former champion, Daniel is already 40 years old, the new fight between the two has no confirmed date but should happen at the beginning of next year.
