Dana White rules out Conor McGregor vs. Frankie Edgar: “It doesn’t make sense and it won’t happen”

Conor McGregor and Frankie Edgar agreed to face each other through social networks. But, the fight will not happen according to UFC President Dana White.

McGregor and his team talked about confronting Frankie Edgar, but White dismissed the fight in an interview with Boston Herald.

“I said it before the Mayweather fight.” Maybe I will never fight again after this fight when you win this kind of money, “White said. “Conor loves to fight and wants to fight again, but the fight with Frankie Edgar is not going to happen.”

The reason why the fight between the two is not feasible is simple. Dana White indicated that it makes no sense when both are in two different divisions.

“Edgar these two divisions under him,” White said. “He was supposed to face Aljamain Sterling. Aljamain was injured. Frankie is reaching the end of his career and could end up getting into the belt again. Taking the fight with Conor makes no sense.”

Despite the reason, Franke Edgar said he could go to welterweight for the fight. He wants to face the Irish before his career ends.

With Dana White ruling out the fight, he believes the Irish will fight again in 2020.

“I think Conor will fight again next year,” said White.

Who he will fight with is to be seen. Dustin Poirier seems to hesitate to continue fighting, while a fight with Justin Gaethje makes sense.

But, McGregor also asked for revenge with Khabib Nurmagomedov. Anyway, he has several options for his return, but it won’t be with Frankie Edgar.

It only remains to wait to see who the Irishman will face.
