Dana White confirms the fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov in April

Dana White confirms the fight between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov in April

UFC is working on the title fight for the light belt between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson for April.

The organization’s plan is for the fight to be the star of the April 18 event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dana White confirmed the information to ESPN on Monday afternoon.

This will be the fifth attempt to complete the fight between the two. The fight was canceled for various reasons. Nurmagomedov was down in 2015 and 2017 because of injury and weight problems. Ferguson on his part retired in 2015 and 2018 for injuries.

Nurmagomedov is undefeated in 28 fights, including two belt defenses. Ferguson comes from a run of 12 consecutive UFC wins.

Khabib finished Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September. After the fight, he expressed his intention to confront Tony Ferguson in his next fight.

Ferguson beat Donald Cerrone in UFC 238 by TKO in the second round. Former interim champion, Tony was going to face Nurmagomedov last year, but he injured his leg and had to go through surgery.
