A confession given by Cesar Azpilicueta. He acknowledges that he is currently in a different role under the tutelage of Frank Lampard.
As you may already know, Chelsea have had a change of coach this season. They appointed Frank Lampard as their new coach to replace Maurizio Sarri.
Unlike Sarri, Chelsea has adopted a new style of play with Lampard. The 42-year-old wants his team to be more offensive without paying too much attention to the ball.
Azpi acknowledges that different tactics were applied in the current Lampard era. “For me personally, the manager asked me to do something different,” Azpi told Goal International.
Different Playing Styles
Azpi called it different tactics Chelsea became a more aggressive team in attack.
“We are currently playing at a higher intensity. We are also pushing higher in the opponent’s defense area.”
“We want to control the game and we are also attacking the use of our wing defender who keeps throwing crossbows. This tactic is different from our tactics last season passing the ball across the line.”
Azpi admits that he enjoys this tactic as he becomes more involved in the Chelsea attack.
“I really enjoy this tactic and hopefully we can continue the momentum of two wins in the cage next game.”
“This week we have two games and we want to win both so we can get better results next month.” he added.
Chelsea will face Lille OSC in the second round of the Champions League group stage.
After that they will face Southamtpon before the international break.
