Canelo Alvarez Dares to Fight “Whole Stadium” With Billy Joe Saunders Following the Ring Size Debate

It’s fight week for the super middleweight title unification between Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders. The tensions are running high. We are only days away from the big fight. Yet they are still discussing the minor details over and over.

Billy Joe Saunders and his father, Tom, promise to walk away from the fight regarding the size of the ring in Texas. Saunders was not happy with the small ring size the fight was going to take place in.

He said, “The problem is I come over here and they try to chuck me in a phone box of a boxing ring. People say stuff to get under people’s skin and under camp’s skin. But it’s hundreds and hundreds of feet long. They want to stick a 16’ to 18’ ring in the middle of it.

Canelo Alvarez had his own thoughts regarding the dispute.

Canelo said, “It’s always been 20ft and now he wants 24ft. If he wants I will give him the whole stadium. I don’t care. It’s a little more personal. He’s been talking a lot about me for the last four years. In a couple of days, it will happen and it’s a little more personal.”

Representatives from both sides are currently in the midst of negotiating a compromise on the ring size. We should know soon whether or not this proves to be a deal-breaker.

Saunders has now not shown up to a scheduled face-off with Canelo at The AT&T Stadium, and his father, Tom, has made a statement that they are booking their flights to go home. As many as 70,000 fans will be inside the AT&T Stadium watching the fight. Let’s hope they resolve this dispute soon.
