Jake Paul Fight is The Category Ben Askren Takes ‘Advantage of’ Being a Retired Full Time Fighter

Dana White is betting his $1million Dollars on Ben Askren

Ben Askren and Jake Paul are going head to head in a boxing fight. Ahead of that, Askren has spoken about what he can do and how he will try to win.

Ben has a particular method of fighting. His striking is not his strong suit, so he only uses it to position his opponent. However, what he is good at, is grappling and uses it effectively to win fights.

Hence, his striking would set up his takedowns as he knew nobody was going to outwrestle him in the cage. “I calculated this the other day, I think I got a takedown in 48 out of 50 rounds that I ever fought in mixed martial arts,” he told MMA Fighting.

However, how would Ben implement this strategy to win a boxing fight? Ben explains that he has always been a good athlete. With his delicate hip situation, the stress on his body will be far less if he is just boxing.

‘Funky’ also said, that post-retirement, he would only look at interesting offers. “I got an interesting opportunity and I’m going to take advantage of it.” Ben has had only three months to brush up on his boxing skills.

Can Ben Askren Win This Fight?

Ben Askren feels that boxing is one of the easier to learn combat sports. “Boxing is way easier than anything. Jiu-jitsu, kickboxing, Muay Thai, there’s very little stress comparatively,” he said.

However, Ben also has nothing but respect but professionals who’ve dedicated their whole lives to the sport. He feels confident that he will be able to transition to the sport just like he did from wrestling to mixed martial arts. He thinks he has already gotten good enough to beat an amateur boxer like Jake Paul.

Unsurprisingly, Ben is also making a massive payday from the fight. He claims that he has a very hectic schedule managing his five wrestling academies. That said, the retired fighter is excited at the prospect of punching Jake Paul and ending his hype, once and for all.
