In a fight almost in process, Gegard Mousasi returned to the road of victory taking revenge against Lyoto Machida on the stellar of Bellator 228.
This was the second chapter between the two since they already faced each other five years ago when they competed in the UFC.

On that occasion, the Brazilian took the fight thanks to a unanimous decision. Now it was the turn of the former Bellator Medium champion, declared as the winner, to his obvious surprise, by a split ruling (29 – 28, 29 – 28, 30 – 27).

Mousasi came from losing his belt at the hands of Rafael Lovato Jr. at Bellator 223. That was his first defeat since late 2017.
Machida, 41, suffered his first fall in almost two years. Losing to Mousasi meant losing the four-win streak to the thread he had. The former UFC Medium Champion had just finished Chael Sonnen at Bellator 222.
