One of the aspirants for the upcoming presidential elections Victor Font has ruled out the possibility of re-signing Neymar if he wins the elections.
Barcelona have been rocked by several scandals of late, which culminated in the resignation of former president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the entire board ahead of a vote of no confidence.
This left a power vacuum at the top and a transitional administration committee led by Carles Tusquets have overseen the day-to-day running of the club, although they have limits to their decision-making powers.
An initial date in March was fixed for the presidential elections but the date has been drawn closer and a new Barcelona president will be elected on January 17.
Victor Font is seen as the leading candidate to win the election, although he will face competition from Toni Freixa, as well as former president Joan Laporta.
Attention has understandably turned to the plans and visions that the men have for the club, with transfer targets a major topic of discussion.
However, Victor Font has come out to clear the air that he does not harbor plans to sign Neymar and this could serve as a talking point in the weeks leading up to the election.

Victor Font has said he will not sign Neymar if he wins the election
According to the latest report by Spanish journalist Alfredo Martinez, the 48-year-old is not interested in signing Neymar under his presidency, although reasons for this decision were not given.

The Brazil international is one of the highest-paid players in the world and any bid for him is sure to set Barcelona back a fortune, which when coupled with his wages would prove difficult to raise.
The Blaugrana like most other clubs are still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and recently failed to convince the players to accept a pay-cut, while coach Ronald Koeman also revealed that financial constraints prevented the club from signing some of their summer targets.
Neymar spent four highly successful seasons at Camp Nou with Barcelona before his acrimonious departure to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 for a world record fee.
He, however, remains close friends with Barcelona captain Lionel Messi to this day and still harbors ambitions of returning to Camp Nou and has reportedly been in contact with some of the presidential candidates.
Lionel Messi has also publicly stated his wish to see the 28-year-old return to Barcelona and one of his major causes of anger at the former board was that they seemingly did not do enough to bring him back, despite public assurances that they were trying to sign Neymar.

Neymar and Messi are close friends
The former Santos man has two years left on his current deal with PSG and is reportedly in discussions with the club over an extension, although the French side might find it difficult to afford to renew both him and Mbappe’s contracts, leading to speculation that one of the pair could depart Parc des Princes.
Neymar was signed to bring the Champions League to Paris but injuries have limited his contributions, although he has still shone on the occasions when he has been fit to play.
With Victor Font largely expected to become the next president, it remains to be seen whether the Neymar return to Barcelona would happen.
Font also revealed his plans to appoint current Al Saad manager and Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez as the new coach next summer and this might play a role in convincing Messi to remain at the club.
