Bahrain Grand Prix Season 2 Drivers Preview : Pierre Gasly heads up For ‘Unfinished Business’ At Imola From Last Year

Pierre Gasly of France driving the (10) Scuderia AlphaTauri AT02 Honda leads Lando Norris of Great Britain driving the (4) McLaren F1 Team MCL35M Mercedes during the F1 Grand Prix of Bahrain at Bahrain International Circuit on March 28, 2021 in Bahrain, Bahrain.

Pierre Gasly of AlphaTauri secured an amazing 5th position for the team in the season opener at Bahrain. It looks like AlphaTauri has taken a big step ahead, being in the top teams during the testing.

Regardless, it is their new newbie driver Yuki Tsunoda who has caught most of the most eyeballs with his crude speed. With his raw skills and speed, he set the second quickest time again in Q1.

Yet, the Japanese adolescent couldn’t support his form for long, finishing the race at the 13th position. It was Italian Grand Prix legend Gasly who came through to put himself directly in the blend. Simply behind Max Verstappen’s Red Bull and the Mercedes couple, and in among the Ferraris and McLarens.

Pierre secured a good enough reason for the fans and his team to be happy. After the race, he said, “It’s an amazing start for us. I don’t think I’ve achieved P5 that many times with this team and to start 2021 in that way is just amazing. We didn’t expect it, honestly. We knew we had a strong package but to qualify in the fifth position, especially to go through on the medium tyre in Q2. Was hopefully a good advantage for tomorrow, so a great start.”

Pierre Gasly hopes to solve unfinished business

After an amazing result in Bahrain, it’s time for AlphaTauri and Pierre Gasly to leave their mark at the next Imola GP. Gasly believes AlphaTauri’s improved form, which is set to be boosted by incremental upgrades between now and May’s Spanish Grand Prix. He is also excited about what lies ahead for the team.

In a recent Instagram post, Pierre expressed his excitement for the upcoming Emilia Romanda GP at Imola. He captioned the post, “Imola, we have unfinished business there from last year. I love this track + home race for us, can’t wait for round 2.”

At Imola, there are a lot of factors that’ll play a determining role in who comes home as a champion. From windy tracks to hot temperatures, one must be prepared for anything.
